Series Two of
Poldark got off to a terrific start on BBC iPlayer with over 1.25 million requests for episode one, beating the premiere of
Series One by 64,000! The only episode across both seasons to receive more requests is number five of
Series One with over 1.4 million (it aired Easter Sunday).
Poldark went head to head with ITV's
Victoria for its first six episodes but
Victoria premiered in August so, by the time
Poldark aired,
Victoria was on its third episode. This may, in part, have affected the number of iPlayer requests for the
Poldark premiere, with some people choosing to watch
Victoria live and
Poldark on demand.

The iPlayer report focuses on the top twenty episodes and the most requested episode per programme for each month.
Poldark appears in the report for episodes one, five and ten. One and ten are the premiere and finale. Five gives us the death of Francis and also Ross in the bath tub. At the time five aired it was the least watched episode of the series,
with viewing figures of 5.95m (seven day consolidated). It may be that many people caught up with it later, helping to make five the most popular episode of
Poldark on iplayer
in October, with 872k requests.
Poldark Series Two finished with the good overnight viewing figure of 5.8m (6.9m seven day consolidated) taking it back to the levels seen for Series One. It's hardly surprising then, that the number of requests on iPlayer were more modest at 697k. Nevertheless, it was the twelfth most requested programme in November.
