Aidan and Awards

As the Jameson Empire Awards are almost upon us here's a little something on Aidan and awards. (Watch the Jameson Empire awards live streamed here).

In 2009 Aidan was nominated for Favourite Newcomer to Irish TV in the Now TV Awards for his role as Ruairi McGowan in the medical drama The Clinic.

In 2010 Being Human was nominated for Best TV Drama at the South Bank Show Awards. Aidan attended the ceremony with his co-star Lenora Critchlow (Annie) but, unfortunately, Being Human lost out to Red Riding.

In 2010 Aidan was nominated for Best Actor by the Broadcasting Press Guild for Being Human and Desperate Romantics. The winner was Peter Capaldi for The Thick of It.

My favourite award though, has to be the Hamilton Deane Award which Aidan won in 2009. This award was presented by the Dracula Society for best dramatic performance/presentation in a supernatural genre and previous recipients include fellow The Hobbit actors Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Christopher Lee.
